From SX3 to VELQR
From SX3 to VELQR Information for existing SX3 users
What has changed
Since 1 January 2026, software, intellectual property and full product responsibility for the platform lie with IGASPIN GmbH, Graz, Austria. The platform continues under the name VELQR. IFEN GmbH built, sold and supported the SX3 until the end of 2025. IFEN continues to manufacture the RF front-end hardware — now as a subcontractor to IGASPIN. The platform originated as the SX3 and has been substantially developed by IGASPIN since 2015. Same team, same codebase, new name.
What continues to work
Your SX3 front-end
Your existing SX3 RF front-end operates with the VELQR software. The hardware you already own is not superseded by the transition.
Your recorded data
IF-sample files recorded with the SX3 replay fully in VELQR. Recordings collected over years of campaigns remain a usable asset, and can be reprocessed with current algorithms.
Your algorithm modules
Customer modules developed against the SX3 API load under VELQR unchanged. No recompilation and no interface adaptation are required.
The hardware you run it on
VELQR runs on the PC hardware already used with your SX3 system. Committed real-time behaviour, however, applies to a released VELQR system configuration. Where continuous real-time processing matters, we recommend the VELQR Station: the processing platform is part of the signal chain, and BIOS settings, CPU and GPU pairing, drivers and background processes all affect whether samples are processed without interruption. Many SX3 installations now run on hardware several years old.
Licences, support and service
Your licence remains valid
Your existing SX3 licence stays valid. Nothing needs to be re-issued, re-registered or replaced, and your current software version continues to run unchanged.
Software support
If you hold a software support contract concluded with IFEN, it remains with IFEN for its agreed term. Once that term ends — and for every SX3 licence without a running contract — software support is continued by IGASPIN.
What support covers, and what it does not
Support for an SX3 licence covers bug fixes for the version you hold. It does not include new functionality. Additional capability — further signals, further frequency bands, functions beyond your original scope of supply — requires moving to VELQR. Depending on your licence and the version gap, a one-time fee may apply. Contact us for the terms that apply to your system.
Warranty
No SX3 system has been supplied since 2024. All SX3 hardware in the field, including the front-ends, is outside its warranty period. If you are unsure of the status of a particular unit, send us the serial number and we will check it.
Repair, spare parts and recalibration
Repairs, spare parts and recalibration for SX3 hardware are handled by IGASPIN.
New purchases
Licences, front-ends, upgrades and complete systems are ordered from IGASPIN.
The current platform
VELQR is at version V3.7.0, released 21 April 2026.

Frequently asked questions
Do I have to do anything now?
Will my current SX3 software stop working?
Can I keep my existing front-end?
Can I still use my SX3 recordings?
Do I have to adapt my own API modules?
Can I run VELQR on my existing PC?
the VELQR Station — particularly where the existing PC is several years old.
Is VELQR a different product?
Should I still contact IFEN about my SX3?
Do I receive VELQR free of charge?
No. Your existing version continues to run, and support covers bug fixes for that version.New functionality means moving to VELQR, where a one-time fee may apply depending on your licence.
Can I still buy the SX3 RF front-end?
The front-end continues to be available from IGASPIN.
